Smart cities must integrate new EU rules on privacy and build trust among citizens

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will officially enter into force on the day of the EIP-SCC General Assembly that will take place in Eindhoven on 24 May. All on-going smart city projects and initiatives must start planning the integration of privacy management in order to ensure compliance with the GDPR by 25 May 2018 at the latest.
The European Commission has established a “Citizen-centric approach to data” initiative, whose objective is to provide common guidelines for supporting integration of privacy management in roadmaps of on-going and future smart city developments.
A first webinar will start discussing the issue on 12 May 2016 (register here). During the General Assembly, a break-out session will be organised on 24 May 2016: representatives of smart cities projects are more than welcome to join the discussion!
